I Use Affiliate Links
I use affiliate links where
convenient. That means that if someone clicks on the link and then buys
the product, the vendor will pay me some money.
It's a Triple Win
The affiliate links make for a triple win:
- You
get free access to the information I have collected. If you
wish
to buy the product or service, using the link costs you nothing. Not
using it saves you nothing. Since I can only justify
gathering this information during work hours if there is some potential
income
attached to the activity, without the affiliate links, I would not be
gathering this information for you.
- The vendors win big. It
is an advertising budget with guaranteed success. Instead of creating
an ad, paying for placements, and hoping for it to pay off, they only
pay when they get a sale. The more they pay, the better they are doing.
If they pay enough, it will attract the attention of the best Internet
marketers, and then their sales will really take off.
- When the accumulated affiliate payments reach $100 or
so, I get surprised with a check — always a delight.
Do Affiliate Sales Warp My Recommendations?
They
mainly filter them. If there is no product in a certain area that
offers affiliate income, I just won't bother to gather and post
information about that area. If there is no product offering affiliate
income that I can be enthusiastic about, I won't bother to
gather
and post information about that area. I would not feel good about
promoting something I don't believe in, and there are so many
opportunities to feel good and gain some income, why feel bad?
If I recommend a product or service, it is something I
personally use or that many other people prefer.
I
will ignore some unimportant products and services even if they offer
an affiliate income. I will probably mention the important ones, even
if they don't. If a product or service that does not offer affiliate
income is significantly superior to all products that do, I can't
justify putting up the information pages.
